Noveera Tahir Ahmed, PhD

On a Jamaat level, Dr. Noveera Ahmed serves as local Lajna Sadr and Umoore Talibaat Secretary of the Rochester NY chapter.

On an academic level, Dr. Noveera Ahmed serves as Chair of the Department of Biology and Associate Professor at St. John Fisher College. She holds a Ph.D. in Cell Biology. She is passionate about science education and teaches courses in the areas genetics, cell biology, and histology. Her bench science interests include biofuel production, quorum sensing, and flagellar function in microalgae. She has published in the areas of flagellar assembly and biology teaching.

In her community, Dr. Noveera Ahmed serves as a member of the Board of Trustees of an all-girls middle and high school, allowing her to pursue her desire to improve STEM educational opportunities for young women. She has mentored over two dozen women in undergraduate research projects.
