Furqan Ahmed, PhD
Dr. Furqan Ahmed is currently a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Center for Space Research of the University of Texas at Austin. His research interests include the application of Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) observations for precise geodetic measurements and high-resolution estimation of atmospheric water vapor. He was awarded his Ph.D. (Engineering Sciences) in 2015 from the University of Luxembourg. His doctoral research was focused on the applications of GNSS observations in numerical weather prediction (NWP) and climatology. Furthermore, he possesses MS and BS degrees in Radio and Space Science, and Telecommunication Engineering, respectively. He has disseminated the findings of his research in form of peer-reviewed articles, and several oral and poster presentations in international conferences. In the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Dr. Ahmed serves as the local Qaid of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association (AMYA) in Austin, TX and has recently been appointed to serve the national Finance department of the AMYA.
